We have a range of services we can offer education providers. This can range from filming your event or institution to using digital video as a learning tool to encourage participation or as an enrichment activity.

Examples might include:

• making a DVD record of your event – be it a performance, sports day or other school celebration.
  
  
• making a promotional DVD film of your school for prospective pupils and parents, which can include guidance, information, interviews with Year Seven pupils, film of school facilities and a typical school day and so on.
  
  
• We could offer curriculum enrichment programs in or out of school / college hours, allowing groups of students the opportunity to make their own short film, profile or documentary. We can provide direction, writing, teaching, technical and equipment support to enable this to happen. This could be linked to the curriculum or just for fun.

As you can appreciate, this is just a taste of the many uses video can provide within an educational context. We pride ourselves on being able to tailor our services to the client's needs. We would be happy to discuss ideas for projects with any student group.

At Meconopsis Films we believe in the inclusion of all young people and adults in the process of filmmaking. We believe that filmmaking is an ideal medium for developing individual and group skills.

Our team includes two experienced teachers who have worked with many different students across the educational spectrum: Secondary School, Further Education, students with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities and adult learners. One is also a qualified Speech and Language Therapist with an MA in Psychology and Special Educational Needs. Both are fully police-checked.

We have our own Public Liability Insurance and can provide Risk Assessments if required for Health and Safety purposes.

Helpful hints

Define your student group and outcome as clearly as you can before meeting us. However, we are used to taking your ideas and developing them further.

Check your budget.

Ensure that key staff are available to meet us to discuss the project and to be able to make decisions.

You will need to identify a named staff member with specific responsibility for liasing with us, and who has a genuine interest in the project and the group of students.

For the maintained sector we will need a member of staff assigned to us for any filming with students.

We can provide the text of the letter that you will need to send home to gain parental approval for filming. This has to take place before filming can proceed.

We can provide licences for the use of commercial music or music performances.
